Brain Dump

Brain Dump

What's a brain dump?

It's when you take all of the ideas, thoughts, scheduling, wishes, hopes, worries, to-do lists, etc that are cluttering up your brain, and dump them out onto paper to free up your 'brain space'.

There are many different ways to do a brain dump, my personal favorite being what i like to call the spiderweb. It uses a large piece of paper, and starts with a circle in the centre- containing your name. Coming out of this circle are lines (as many as necessary) for each sub section- for example: kids, house, vehicle, work, etc. The end of each line gets a circle containing one of those sub sections. From those circles, create more lines and circles for more thoughts. Expand as much as necessary. I also like to color code mine when I am done.

It might seem useless, or just like 'One more thing to do', but taking a few moments to dump out all of those cluttering thoughts, can be so relieving. And you can always add to it if you remember something later. It makes a great reference point for task lists, and can be done in so many different ways. Make sure that you are taking the time you need, to declutter and organize your mind- not just your home!
